Salt Spray Corrosion Test
ISO is the worldwide union of national standards. The international standard ISO 9227 has been developed by the ISO/TC 156 Metals and Alloys Corrosion Technical Committee. There are many factors affecting metal corrosion. A single salt spray resistance cannot replace the performance of other media, so this standard cannot be used as a direct guide to the corrosion resistance of the tested materials in all environments. At the same time, the performance of various materials in the test can’t be used as a direct guide to the corrosion resistance of these materials in use. Nevertheless, the method specified in this standard can still be used as a method to test the material with or without corrosion resistance. This standard specifies equipment, reagents and methods used in neutral salt spray (NSS), acetate spray (AASS), and copper accelerated acetate spray (CASS) tests.
